Located in the Northern Cape Province near Deben and Kathu, REISA generates approximately 179 000 MWh of clean renewable energy every year.
The solar project achieved commercial operation in August 2014, less than two years after construction started in November 2012.
Part of Round 1 of the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (REIPP), REISA connects to Eskom’s Fox switching station adjacent to the site.
REISA comprises 343 200 solar modules on 210 hectares of agricultural land.
Renewable Energy Investments SA (RF) Pty Ltd is owned by Old Mutual, various funds managed by African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), Builtafrica Kathu Pty Ltd and the Local Community Trust.
