Supporting farmers during times of drought is essential to ensure the survival of their livestock and the sustainability of local food systems. Standing with the Gamagara Local Municipality, REISA Solar recently handed over vital drought relief aid to over 20 farmers in the Deben area, with Speaker Goitseone Sekgopi, in attendance.
This support spans over a 3-month period, offering relief to farmers affected by the seasonal droughts, many of whom have been forced to downsize their livestock due to the harsh conditions.
“We are very grateful for the support that REISA has provided us, especially after we were forced to give up our livestock due to the drought. This assistance comes at a critical time when we are struggling to keep our farms afloat,” expressed Leentjie Stanley, Chairperson of the Farmers’ Association.
By providing essential resources, REISA Solar continues to invest in long-term community development, helping more than 20 households directly impacted by the drought.
“This drought relief effort ties into our broader goal of supporting sustainable agricultural practices and empowering farmers to maintain their livelihoods, despite environmental pressures,” concluded Shariefa Rhode, Community Operations Manager for REISA Solar.
