October 2026.
Boitumelo Peter, founder of The Zoo Travel & Tours in Kuruman, saw an opportunity to start up a tourism business in the Northern Cape, drawing on his previous experience in tour management and production. Today, he is one of 10 entrepreneurs to graduate from an Enterprise Development Programme, following three and a half years of business development, mentorship and support.
Having joined the REISA Enterprise Development Programme in 2022, he received business development support and grant funding to strengthen his skills and address key operational needs within his business.
Reflecting on his experience, Peter said the programme helped him develop his understanding of running and growing a business.
“The incubation developed my business skills, knowledge and understanding. The grant funding equipped my business with both operational and resource needs,” he said.
Funded by REISA and implemented by Raizcorp, the Enterprise Development Programme combines financial support with mentorship, business training and other resources to help participating entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses.
As part of the programme, participants receive one-on-one mentorship in areas such as finance, marketing, sales and business strategy. They also take part in practical training focused on business sustainability, compliance, profitability and entrepreneurial development.
The programme further supports businesses in preparing for corporate procurement and exploring opportunities to access larger markets and supply chains.
Entrepreneurs also have access to Raizcorp’s incubation facilities and back-office support to assist with their operational and administrative needs.
“The REISA Enterprise Development Programme is not just about funding businesses – it is about building resilient entrepreneurs who are equipped to grow, adapt, and create lasting impact within their communities,” said Nomfundo Mpompo, Social Performance Practitioner at REISA.
The graduation marks the culmination of a three-and-a-half-year development journey for Peter and the other participating entrepreneurs. The graduates will continue to receive post-programme support as they build on the skills and experience gained and pursue further opportunities for their businesses.
